Serve DC helps organize a huge event each April called National & Global Youth Service Day (N&GYSD)—a weekend dedicated to youth and their involvement in their communities. It is also the largest service event in the world, proving that youth really do care about their communities. In 2006, more than 9,000 DC youth and their families participated in N&GYSD.
Here is a list of projects taking place in Washington DC.
The Opening Ceremony for National & Global Youth Service Day was held at King Greenleaf Recreation Center on Friday, 20 April, from 4 - 6 pm. During which time youth painted a mural to celebrate the event and the spirit of volunteerism in Washington DC.
