When during the 2009 National Police Week that the 21st Annual Candlelight Vigil is held on Tuesday evening, 13 May, Coloradans Kirk Bockman and Jim Lee of Great Panes Glass Works, Inc. will have engraved a total of 18,661 names on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial at Judiciary Square in NW Washington DC which opened in 1991.
Of the 18.661 total, Bockman and Lee will spend the next two weeks engraving 387 names. Which will include 133 officers who were killed in 2008 and 254 who died in previous years but whose stories had previously been lost to history.
