Though I have photographed skateboarders at Freedom Plaza since the summer of 1992 I did not know that there was a Skate Park at Shaw Recreation Center until my Saturday, 21 April 2007 photo walk.Constructed after September 2003 at the Shaw Recreation Center at 11th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, the Shaw Skate Park, according to one reviewer is a "fun park, not much too it (not surprising since it was built on an old tennis court) but its friendly to every type of biker/skater, and is free and open 24/7".
