Logan Circle's P Street Mardi Gras "Help Rebuild New Orleans" festival preceeds 7th Clarendon Mardi Gras Parade

Though details are still being ironed out and I'm not too sure who the organizers are I'd learn through a Bahia Productions-CALOR cross promotion that on Tuesday, 20 February 2007, Logan Tavern and Merkado are hosting a Help Rebuild New Orleans P Street Mardi Gras Benefit Festival in the 1400 block of P Street in the Logan Circle area of NW Washington DC.

The 2007 P Street Mardi Gras "Help Rebuild New Orleans" Festival with musical entertainment by Lively Stone Band, Reed Lightfoot, DJ John Deke and others will take place from 11 am until 11 pm on Tuesday, 20 February. Click image to view large version of flyer.

The Clarendon Mardi Gras Parade, celebrating its 7th year, is a local, homegrown affair, with floats, music, beads and fun, held each year on Mardi Gras, in Arlington's original, historic downtown shopping district. Sponsored by the Clarendon Alliance, with guidance in all things Louisiana by the wonderful Louisiana Alumni Association, it's an event typical of those in small towns all over Louisiana. In gratitude and compassion, we will be collecting for Katrina victims, as they march (or float).

The parade begins at 8 PM, at Veitch Street (by the Court House Metro station) and ends just past the Clarendon Metro Station, at Irving Street. 5,000 lbs of beads from New Orleans, will be thrown to the revelers this year. Practice your catching skills in the little time left. Come early, stay late and have dinner at one of the more than 60 restaurants (see "shopping" for list).

By all means, WEAR A COSTUME (it's the right thing, to do).

While gay identical twins Jacob and Joshua Miller of the pop group Nemesis and who are featured on the Logo reality show “Nemesis Rising,” are scheduled to appear at the 7th Annual Clarendon Mardi Gras Parade they may also stop in at the P Street Mardi Gras Festival.
