New Hubble Observations of Supernova 1987A Trace Shock Wave

In the 2 September 2010 Inbox Astronomy NewsCenter Update ..."An international team of astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope reports a significant brightening of the emissions from Supernova 1987A. The results, which appear in this week's Science magazine, are consistent with theoretical predictions about how supernovae interact with their immediate galactic environment."

NASA's 31 August 2010 Photo of Day: Three Storms

Posted as NASA's 31 August 2010 Image of the Day and captured by the current Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite GOES-13, "Three Storms" depicts Hurricane Danielle heading for the north Atlantic (top center), Hurricane Earl with a visible eye hitting the Leeward Islands (left bottom) and a developing tropical depression 8 (lower right) at 1:45 p.m. EDT on Aug. 30.

Bill Flag Dancing at Dupont Circle on Sunday, 8 August 2010

According to Wikipedia ... the art of flag dancing, but more commonly referred to as flagging, is the undulation, spinning and waving of flags in a rhythmic fashion to music.

While my memories of flaggers date back to the 80's when friends and I partied at The Saint which at the time I, iinaccurately, referred to as fan dancing it was not until the 1996 Cherry Weekend event in Washington DC that my flag dancing docu-project was launched.

While sitting in Dupont Circle on Sunday evening, 8 August 2010, and reviewing images and videos that I had shot earlier that afternoon of the Malcolm X. Park Drum & Dance Circle in Meridian Hill a flagger named Bill caught my attention as he performed at the fountain.

One of District's Oldest White Oak Swamp Trees is Located at T Street Park, NW,

After first photographing T Street Park at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue at 17th and T Streets, NW, on Monday afternoon, 7 June and as as result learned that White Oak Swamp tree is one of the oldest in the District I returned on the following day to get better shots of the historic tree.

In fact, since August 2009, trees have been one of new ongoing themes.
