My VOICES #3: "Song Of Slavery" Progressive Mix Celebrates Black History Month

Though it had been knawing at my brain since the beginning of the month it was not until this past weekend that in celebration of Black History Month 2010 my VOICES #3: Songs Of Slavery" mix was completed.

Inspired by THE DARK project and Eileen Ivers' "Beyond the Bog Road" Tour which when delving into the sounds of Irish Immigration also reflects on the slave trade ... I wanted this tracklist to have a dark yet uplifting feel.

Opening with Ron Carroll's "Song Of Slavery" followed by "Last Cry Of The Red Indians" by Dirty Rhythm Syndicate it not only pays tribute to the African American and Native American experiences in America but to other 'peoples of the world' that have experienced oppression.

Which is why before ending with Giuseppe Ottaviani's remix of Paul van Dyk's "We Are One" featuring Johnny McDaid this powerful trance voices mix also includes "Free Tibet (Original Mix)" by Hilight Tribe.

Two other of my trance compilations that reflect on my experiences as a black male are Conspiration and Ritual Purification.
